Animal Matters Training and Swim offers a number of training options with their certified dog trainer to best help you and your pup whether they’re 8 weeks or 8 years old right at our De Pere loaction!
Private Lessons
Private lessons are a great opportunity to work one-on-one with a professional, certified dog trainer to focus on individualized training goals. Once a training plan has been established, lessons can also be added to daycare & boarding services through TailWaggers of De Pere. Training sessions can cover a wide range of behaviors such as those listed below.
- basic manners – sit, down, go to mat, etc.
- advanced manners – stay, loose leash walking, recall, etc.
- problem behaviors – counter surfing, mouthing, jumping, barking, etc.
- behavior concerns – reactivity, handling sensitivity, fear/anxiety, etc.
- husbandry behaviors – nail trimming, brushing, etc.
- AKC tests & titles
The first step to start private lessons is inquiring through a free, 15 minute discovery call. During your discovery call, the Animal Matters Team will listen to your training goals and challenges and answer general questions about our training processes; at the end of your call, if our services are right for you, we will set up an initial consultation.
The 60 minute initial consultation is then completed via Google Meet to further discuss you and your dog’s training history, goals, behavior concerns, and share the training options available with our certified dog trainer. The consultation is $100 and includes a follow-up with an email summarizing the discussion.
From there, the work (and fun!) begins with the training plan discussed!
Group Classes
Whether you are just starting training for your dog or you are looking to build upon previous courses, we have group class options to fit your goals! Our classes include curriculums that focus on introductory skills for puppies & adults, advanced manners for the Canine Good Citizen test, and even specialized skills for brewery patio manners! Our complete class listings can be found on the Animal Matters website & current class offerings can be found on the TailWaggers client portal. We keep classes small, so each owner/dog team receives ample individual feedback and a class setting conducive to learning.
Duration and price of the class vary based on the skills covered and the session numbers. Classes range from 2 weeks to 6 weeks and from $75 to $160. Please inquire regarding specific class information!
Puppy Immersion Program (PIP)
The Puppy Immersion Program focuses on early exposure and socialization to new people, other dogs, sounds, sights, smells, and surfaces for puppies under 16 weeks. PIP also works on building appropriate play, a foundation of basic manners, and crate skills. The program runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10am-2pm for 4 weeks. The puppies spend time socializing with the other pups and exploring new surfaces and environments as well as practicing settling in a crate. During crate time, each pup is pulled out individually to work on basic skills. We cap the program at 4 puppies, so your dog gets individualized attention throughout the training sessions. The total program and perks is $1,000.
Included in the investment:
- (8) 4-hour training sessions
- (1) 4-week evening class*
- (2) private transfer sessions
- Daycare services on PIP days
- Exposure to our indoor, in-ground, heated pool
- (1) BBNE – bath, brush, nails, ears
- Training goodie bag with a harness, lick mat, can of wet food, treats, and a treat pouch & clicker
- Lots of learning and socialization!
*The evening group class is used as an opportunity for owners to practice what their puppy has learned in a group environment. The details of the class are described below.
